On the meridian of time, there is no injustice: there is only the poetry of motion creating the illusion of truth and drama.
ToC, H. Miller

Dedication

Wicked is my hero, and to her I dedicate this song.

"The knotted chord's untying"

I am only human after all, but nonetheless, I'm very glad no one came by my puka while I listened to "Blood of Eden" by Peter Gabriel.

Luckily for my mascara, a Bloodhound Gang song played next.

Free your mind, the rest will follow

I need to purge myself of my assumptions, my judgments, my biases. Recognition must come first. So, in the order that I think them, here are a few of mine:

  1. Pink, particularly pastel pink, represents everything that my feminist mind abhors.
  2. Organized cheerleading (such as in HS) should either be recognized and practiced as its own sport or wiped off the face of the earth. Sideline "Rah rah's" in barely legal garb are obnoxious and degrading.
  3. I enjoy assuming that guys with certain vehicles are compensating for something.
  4. There is a correct way to put toilet paper on the dispenser.
  5. Body-hairless, bronzed, thin, flawless bombshells must have less personality, be high maintenance, and read at a 5th grade level.
  6. Cadbury eggs are superior to all other forms of candy, and they are infidels who disagree.
  7. People who don't like cats are heartless.
  8. Ketchup is disgusting unless in minute proportions; mayonnaise should replace ketchup at all costs.
  9. People who can't feel music are simply not alive.
  10. People who believe other than I do and make decisions that I would not make must be wrong on some level.
  11. *added 01 Aug* Compliments are said only because the person wants something and is buttering you up or because (s)he feels obligated to perform a social nicety.
  12. *added 01 Aug* If people saw me in the harsh light of day without the cover of make-up or clothing, they would reject me, whether to my face or not.
  13. I need to have the last word.

A Necessary Pick-Me-Up

Just got a call from Gody (such an adorable accent) letting me know that Apple just emailed him and is very interested. I was jumping up and down which was funny b/c apparently he was doing the same, lol. All my hard work over the past month - cover letter, resume, digital portfolio - has paid off. He's such an adorable sweetie; I hope he gets the job. Even if it does take him out to CA. (I'll just have to kidnap him when his flight is mysteriously rerouted to MEM.) ;)

Oh, Sleep, Where Art Thou?

Forgotten by Hypnos (but not by Morpheus), I have finally submitted to the will of the gods. Black Paw tried his best to help me out, and O-ren curled up with me for at least an hour... all to no avail. Sleep eludes me.

So after 2 hours of counting sheep, sheering and carding their wool, and knitting sweaters for the poor naked sheepies, I have abandoned all hope and resigned myself to the comforts that only copious amounts of sliced cheese can bring me. well... cheese and high-speed internet.

And what does little e do at 4:30 am all by her lonesome? Why, read Emily Dickinson, of course. :) And so, before I continue my quest to buy 40 winks on eBay, I leave you with this poem of hers:

I Had No Time to Hate, Because

I had no time to hate, because
The grave would hinder me,
And life was not so ample I
Could finish enmity.

Nor had I time to love, but since
Some industry must be,
The little toil of love, I thought,
Was large enough for me.

Ob-La-De

Wicked inspired me - I finally got around to loading Aaron's and my cds into iTunes. Now sitting at exactly 2,300 songs, I have approximately half of what I had on my Dell... or should I say, what Ashums now has on my Dell. To console myself, I have made sure that music has been seeping into my skin at all times this weekend... as if that's different than any other day, lol.

The house is officially on the market although this is more technicality than anything else at this point. Half of my immediate family doesn't even know that Aaron lost his job. I don't avoid telling them; I simply don't see the need to call them just for what seems to me to be a minor issue. And if anyone is reading this and completely shocked at finding all this out just now, then you obviously need to call me if you want to find out what happened / is happening.

So.. um... yeah... life goes on. The only thing better than rolling down a hill in a barrel is throwing all caution to the wind and rolling down the hill regardless.

Party Like a Rockstar

Introducing 20088 - reportedly the youngest professional rock band in China (um, and everywhere else?) These little rockin' cuties are 7 and have performed in some Olympic-related events as all of the members will reach the lucky age of 8 in 2008 (hence the name), the year of the Beijing Olympics.

I wonder what kind of complexes these tykes will have when they hit puberty...

I watch you fast asleep / All I fear means nothing

In honor of Aaron finishing Kingdom Hearts II... oh whatever, I've been singing "Sanctuary" at the top of my lungs for going on 15 solid minutes and happened to find a site that not only provides the lyrics (which I love), but plays the entire song (which I adore). So go to the above link and sing with me!

Anyhoo, the song is by Utada Hikaru which is the English version of "Passion" (Japanese) and the intro song to Aaron's game.

Gomen nasai, demo...

I've sworn off all music that isn't in a foreign language today. :) And no, not singing any Disney songs, but, uh... I can insert random clipart if I want to! :P I miss Ashums, so I'm probably just trying to channel her via Mulan clipart...

This week has been absolutely dull, what with Charming Illy and Meerkat abandoning me in preference for the Drunken Hump. (And insult to injury, my Marine-turned-Navy-intern in IN also choose this week to fly to Norfolk for a business trip.) It doesn't help that I am inundated in mind-numbing surveys which repeatedly remind me that everyone should be required to take the course Instructions: How to Follow Them before they are allowed to graduate high school. I prefer busy to bored... but seriously, my brain is melting at a rate which is only exceeded by
how often I growl "stupid idiot" at the screen.

Grouching does not become me, so... happy thoughts.
I received this text message today: "Call me."
Upon following instruction, I was promptly told, "I love you. That's all I wanted to say."

I also have brought in some pictures of mi familia as I got tired of having my puka decorated only in random crap left over from my classroom.

... I wonder what language I'm "singing" in... sounds kinda Nordic... glad no one's around to hear me butcher it. :)

Oh, and... BROKE A SHEEP! (hehehehehehe)

::update::
Ashums - you're psychic! It was great to hear my phone ring, "Erin, it's me!" during the middle of office doldrums. :)

Nu I chto?

So what?

So maybe it's just me who cares what the lyrics are to the t.A.T.u. part of "Odno I To Zhe" .... but hey, it's my blog, so go stuff it! I'm happy to announce that after much sleuthing, I've traced the song back to "Ja Tvoya Ne Pervaja" (I Am Not Your First).

... now to find some lovely Euro death trance... something with a good melody... :)

omgomgican'tbreathhehehe

Remember a few posts ago when I mentioned "Odno I To She" which is a remix of Rammstein and t.A.T.u songs? Well, have I got a treat for you! :)

There's a Man in my Puka Talking About my Beaver!

What could be better than sitting in my puka and talking to one of my Tres Hombres Manches (there's something satisfying about using manches instead of sucios) about my beaver? And although I would love to devote this post to nothing but replicating even a portion of that conversation - just for the wonderfully droll (even a little drôle, in the scampiest of meanings) double entendres - but I think I prefer to leave each of you to your own imaginations. Although not nearly exciting as what we're all now thinking, I am happy to report that I have sold one of my father-in-law's beaver-fur bears to a coworker.

Pictorially Speaking

Happiness in this moment is letting my iPod shuffle through all of 2006 and 2007's pictures... all 3,000 or so of them... as LotR music plays in the background. So although I will not be at Hazel and Kenny's lake for the family celebration tomorrow, I can be with them now through these pictures. I knew I wasn't a photobug for nothing. :)

"You Can Always Find What You're Not Looking For"

I backed out of the garage this morning and into the in-laws Toyota Tacoma. After all of the fender-bender-esque incidents that my cars have had, this was the first where I was actually in the car at the time, let alone responsible. Interesting timing at that, what with having just one income now. Blemish-free cars are highly over-rated, right?

My little sister, Lydia, introduced me to a bee-you-tee-full plethora of manga-zen in the form of MangaVolume.com. Better yet, she was able to fill me in on what's happened with InuYasha and Kagome after the anime ended. Oh wait, better yet! She introduced me to the manga Alichino - is it not gorgeous? What is this, you say? The site isn't blocked at work, you say? Pardon me for a moment; I need to get back to work... ;)

Brain Dump of the Day

Perhaps I feel a bit deplete in wholesome "of the Day" goodness as Wicked is home with a migraine and not sending out her usual words to ponder. And so today’s brain dump shall start with “[Fill in the Blank] of the Day”

Snack of the Day: Caribou Coffee Mint Condition granola bars. They are just weird. And as I’m trying not to drink too much coffee, this seemingly innocent snack is making my mouth water just thinking about the perfect blend of Folgers, raspberry hot cocoa mix, and International Delights’ almond vanilla parfait creamer…. Mmm…

Song of the Day: Because “Playlist of the Day” would take too long… The song that I’ve listened to the most today would probably be “Odno I To Zhe” – a combination of Rammstein and t.A.T.u. Gotta love combining German and Russian. Find it and listen.

Quote of the Day: “What does it matter how one comes by the truth so long as one pounces upon it and lives by it?” - H. Miller, of course, are you kidding me? The six books that I had been reading before I picked up ToC will just have to wait.

Txt Msg of the Day (received): “Thieves! Who are the ones that stole time from our fingertips?” What I find so funny about this text message is that I apparently said something along these lines a few nights ago and had completely forgotten all about it once it passed from my lips. I didn’t even recognize being paraphrased in the text message until being corrected a few messages later.

Idle Thought of the Day: I wonder what Aaron and I will do with his family while they’re in town. They should be at our house by this point; I wonder why Aaron hasn’t called yet. I wonder if I should have planned stuff out, but spur of the moment just sounds so much more enjoyable.

Seven Hours, Seven Lifetimes

No one means all he says, and yet very few say all they mean, for words are slippery and thought is viscous. -- Henry Adams

You say that I will experience great pain down this path that I tread. With fear and concern in your eyes, you caution me, want to save me from that hurt. I didn't know how to respond, not when you were so close. I didn't know how to speak... I know that I will experience great pain; that is life. I would not ask to live in a glass menagerie but would rather shatter it to the floor and walk barefoot on the shards. I want to touch that pain, that hurt. I know it is coming, and I accept it. I won't live less, and I won't love less; I won't be debilitated. I am stronger than even I give myself credit.

There is beauty in light but also in dark. I will immerse myself in what I find beautiful.
